Newell Picks WPP for Global Communications

Following a review of some of its agency relationships, Newell Brands has named WPP communications partner for its worldwide portfolio.

Premier consumer goods company, Newell, has appointed WPP as communications partner for its worldwide portfolio of brands following a review. The firm will help the marque grow its global footprint, leverage its scale, and renew strategy across a wide range of channels.

The move is an expansion of the relationship between the client and WPP which began in 2016 when JWT was hired as lead firm. Geometry, Mindshare, and Eicoff will offer shopper marketing, media investment management, and direct response television expertise.

Wunderman Thompson has been engaged for digital marketing work and VMLY&R for social media. The agencies join existing ones including BCW and Superunion on the account. The Newell team, which is based in New York, will continue to be spearheaded by Eva Ruzicka.

“We are delighted to have expanded our relationship with such a valued client, and to support Newell with our simple, integrated offer that harnesses the full power of WPP for clients,” said Mark Read, Chief Executive Officer of WPP.

The brands under Newell include Sharpie, Paper Mate, Parker, Rubbermaid, Baby Jogger, Marmot, WoodWick, Yankee Candle, Crock-Pot, Aerobed, Bubba, Stearns, and many more.
